Everest Base Camp
This three week trek follows the classic route from Lukhla, up the Dudh Kosi to the town of Namche Bazaar. From here we climb quite quickly above the tree line, the scenery becoming ever more spectacular as we do so. We climb past the monastery at Thyangboche up the Khumbu valley to our ultimate goal - Everest Base Camp on the Khumbu Glacier! The high point (quite literally) of the trek is an ascent to Kala Pattar (5,545 meters) which affords spectacular views of Everest and the neighbouring peaks of Lhotse and Nhuptse. The return retraces our steps to Lukhla.
Accomodation, as on the Annapurna Circuit is in hotels in Kathmandu and in tea houses throughout the trek. The quality of these lodges has improved considerably in recent years and many now having flushing toilets and electricity. They also allow us to give something back to the local economy, whilst sharing what for many Nepalese people, is their home.
Staying at tea houses allows us to carry everything that we would need for our trek, though arrangements can be made for local porters to accompany us if required.
